Salary: $110,000 - $165,000

Focus:Focus: The Senior Improvement Engineer drives plant-level improvements by analyzing data, identifying opportunities in performance, reliability, and process safety, and implementing aligned projects. The role supports expense and capital projects, often serving as project manager or manufacturing representative within the project management system.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

Senior Improvement Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages plant project management system; leads plant improvement team, creates detailed job scopes, obtains bids, request funding whether capital or expense, prioritizes projects, review engineering deliverables and designs to ensure safety and technology matters are addressed, executes project and completes close out.

  • Participates in advanced trouble shooting, coaches others to learn these skills, ensures findings are documented for future usage and implements best practices to optimize operations, including owning the pipeline and tracking tools.

  • Drives improvements to the plants process safety culture through operations training, being an active participant in MOC reviews, procedure audits, and supporting the plant in process safety related root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Partners with plant operations to identify process safety and technology gaps, improvement opportunities, develop job scope and technical execution support during turnarounds, start-ups, and shutdowns

  • Manages and leads Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), HAZOP, FMEA and other PSM-related studies for existing processes and projects and close gaps in operating disciplines

Senior Improvement Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in project/improvement roles within a manufacturing environment; chemical industry experience preferred

  • Work experience managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - verbal and written

  • Knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards preferred. Knowledge of chlor-alkali processes preferred

  • Experience with plant improvement project implementation and leading process hazard analysis (PHA) reviews preferred. Experience with safety systems (BPCS/SIS) implementation preferred

  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred

  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
