Responsibilities
As a Benefits Speciailist, you will primarily responsible for the service delivery and plan administration of assigned benefits programs, including day-to-day vendor interactions and relationships. Also responsible for addressing complex employee issues and escalations, administering company leave of absence programs, and providing support to Senior Benefits Specialists with process improvement, regulatory compliance, and other benefit projects as assigned.
- Manages the daily interactions and service relationships with assigned vendors to ensure the delivery of high quality customer service, accurate benefit plan administration, and fulfillment of strategic objectives.
- Reviews and verifies that administrative invoices and service level agreements with assigned vendors are in compliance with applicable contract terms before initiating payment requests.
- Responds to complex employee benefit inquiries and resolves escalations received from incoming emails, ticket management systems, benefits call center representatives, and/or senior leadership in a timely and professional manner.
- Analyzes employee inquiries, tickets, and calls to identify potential benefits administration issues and/or opportunities for improved communications or processes, and provides clear and concise information to Senior Benefits Specialists for additional research, validation, and resolution.
- Serves as liaison between leaves administration vendors, impacted employees, management, and other stakeholders to administer all mandated and available leave of absence programs in an accurate, compliant, and efficient manner.
- Tracks and implements communication plans for assigned benefit programs, including policy changes, program updates, and required regulatory documents with the assistance of external vendor partners and consultants using a variety of communication methods.
- Assists with testing the 401(k) and health and welfare benefits eligibility rules, events, and benefit plans within the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management system, especially during the annual Open Enrollment processes.
- Assists the Senior Benefits Specialists with internal and external audit requests, regulatory related testing and compliance filings, and preparation of benefits disclosures, plan documents, and other required communications.
- Partners with Senior Benefits Specialists to identify and obtain relevant data to assess the success and effectiveness of current benefit programs and to inform the development of new strategic initiatives to meet objectives and desired outcomes as established by senior leadership.
- Provides training and documented processes to other Benefits Specialists in order to enable their backup support during vacations, leaves of absence, and/or any changes to team resources, and serves as backup support for the other Benefits Specialists as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Three (3+) years of experience in Benefits Administration.
- Ability to travel domestically (0-10% of the time) as required for assigned projects, vendor meetings, and professional development.
Preferred
- Associate's degree (or equivalent college-level credits) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
- Five (5+) years of experience in Benefits Administration, including leave of absence administration, for a large organization.
- Human Resources and/or Benefits Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM - CP, SHRM -SCP, CEBS, CBP).
- Experience with vendor management for day-to-day operations and service delivery needs, including handling escalated individual issues.
- Working knowledge of ERP and/or HRIS technology platforms, specifically PeopleSoft Human Capital Management system, including the ability to use and modify queries for data reporting.
- Working knowledge of ERISA, FMLA, ADA and other primary federal legal and regulatory requirements related to employee benefits.
