Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Test Engineer to support major IT Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities at Lackland AFB, TX. The successful candidate will support the full spectrum of testing tasks-from planning through execution and reporting-and provide engineering insight for system reliability, performance validation, and operational readiness assessments.



Responsibilities

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide technical expertise to support Department of Defense (DoD) software and system testing activities. You will assist government leadership in planning and executing rigorous Test and Evaluation (T&E) efforts to ensure software and IT systems meet mission requirements, comply with quality standards, and function reliably in operational environments.

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Support test engineering efforts across the full testing lifecycle, including documentation of test concept, methodology, planning, execution, data analysis, and final reporting.

  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) principles to develop robust test plans and conduct efficient test events.

  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of test-related materials such as specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.

  • Analyze technical problems using engineering methods and provide solutions for issues with broad scope or complexity.

  • Assess the adequacy, accuracy, and completeness of test results, and provide recommendations for corrective actions or enhancements.

  • Develop innovative testing approaches and improve existing test strategies to meet evolving system requirements.

  • Evaluate and validate the configuration and readiness of test environments, ensuring they support fault detection and performance testing.

  • Coordinate testing schedules, identify and resolve conflicts between software release events, and advise the test lead on priorities and risks.

  • Work independently with general guidance, while collaborating with senior engineers and stakeholders to ensure testing aligns with mission goals.



Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have an Active Top Secret Clearance

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 4+ years of experience in test engineering or system/software testing, OR

  • 8+ years of directly related technical experience with relevant certifications in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: TS/SCI

Technical Skills

  • Test planning and execution

  • Data analysis and statistical evaluation

  • Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology

  • Configuration management and fault injection techniques

  • Use of test automation tools and performance monitoring utilities

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with excellent analytical thinking

  • Comfortable interacting with engineers, program managers, and end users
