Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to support Air Force acquisition programs at Lackland AFB, TX. This role involves conducting systems engineering analyses, reviews, and validations; managing technical baselines; and applying advanced decision-making tools and digital engineering techniques throughout the system lifecycle.



Responsibilities

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level systems engineering support to the U.S. Air Force in all phases of the acquisition lifecycle. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will leverage your broad theoretical and practical knowledge to guide complex programs through system development, integration, testing, sustainment, and risk management. You will be a key contributor in advancing digital engineering practices and technical baselines across mission-critical Air Force portfolios.

The individual shall be able to:

    Conduct portfolio-level reviews to recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering processes, manage technical baselines, and perform system-level tests to verify performance against specifications.

  • Evaluate program designs, test results, and technical approaches to ensure subsystems and systems meet operational and technical requirements.

  • Prepare and deliver detailed technical documentation, system specifications, management reports, and engineering presentations using principles of engineering economy.

  • Perform system validations, including criteria development and result evaluation for major engineering assessments.

  • Provide engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle, including development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment, installation, and operational oversight.

  • Support risk management activities using Air Force SEAM-compliant processes.

  • Perform problem and gap definition, trade space analysis, technology roadmap development, and cost vs. capability assessments using tools such as Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA).

  • Implement and integrate Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin methodologies across the systems lifecycle.



Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance:

Education:Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and 15+ years of relevant experience, with 5+ years in the DoD, OR

  • 20+ years of directly related experience, with proper certifications, 8+ years of which must be in the DoD.

Clearance: TS/SCI

Education: Master's degree (MA/MS) in Engineering or related discipline and 12+ years of relevant experience, with 5+ years in the DoD

  • Familiarity with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM)

  • Experience with large-scale DoD acquisition programs

  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams

Technical Skills

  • Systems engineering lifecycle execution

  • Trade space analysis, MODA, and cost-benefit analysis

  • Digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE)

  • Technical baseline management and system validation

  • Risk management and systems test planning

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities

  • Ability to synthesize technical data for diverse stakeholders

  • Skilled in technical writing, briefing development, and team collaboration

  • Strategic thinking and independent problem-solving
