About The Position

The Gas Engineer is primarily responsible for designing and estimating transmission and distribution work as it pertains to new business, maintenance, system improvement, integrity management, gas contracts and code compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Complete designs and estimates for transmission and distribution systems with emphasis on adherence to company standards, procedures, and policies, including designs for new business, replacements, maintenance, regulator stations, and metering installations. Provide technical assistance and direction to other personnel completing designs and estimates of distribution projects. Update and maintain documentation of completed field work.

  • Review construction plans from outside sources for potential conflicts and recommend actions to prevent or remove conflicts.

  • Perform distribution planning and engineering analysis of transmission and distribution systems in order to identify capacity or operational deficiencies. Develop projects to correct and improve the safe and reliable operation of systems.

  • Review the physical condition of transmission and distribution systems; perform threat evaluation and risk analysis in support of the Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP); provide technical and operational support for the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP); make engineering recommendations for mitigative actions to address risk to the transmission and distribution systems; and track performance metrics.

  • Coordinate large engineering projects and serve as project engineer. Participate in project development, planning, implementation and completion.

  • Work collaboratively with operations supervision and other Company departments to ensure safe and reliable delivery to meet customer expectations and commitments. Effectively utilize and provide technical support relating to the use of the energy delivery business systems.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Division and function goals. Identify and implement improvements in Division operations designed to control costs and improve productivity.

  • Develop and maintain Gas Standards to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the gas system.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil and Mechanical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License OR EIT certification preferred. Three or more years distribution related engineering experience preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with general computer skills required.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

The Engineer works a standard day-shift in an office and field environment. In rare circumstances, may be called in after hours or required to work in unpleasant weather conditions. May also be subject to 24-hour emergency call.

Compensation Range:

$69,300.00 - $168,000.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
