Overview
Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a VP, Engineering based out of Oak Ridge TN. Rapiscan is a leading supplier of end-to-end security inspection solutions, utilizing multiple technologies and advanced threat identification algorithms based on X-ray and high-speed computed tomography imaging, ion mobility spectrometry, radiation detection, and optical inspection technologies. Our broad portfolio of products, services, and solutions helps customers in ports, borders, aviation, military, law enforcement, critical infrastructure, event security markets to solve complex security needs, including combatting terrorism, drug and weapon smuggling, and trade fraud. With our leading detection technology and vast industry knowledge, we meet demanding security requirements while offering customers outstanding value for their security screening and inspection operations. We have highly experienced technical, program management, and service teams to ensure customers receive a best-in-class experience throughout every phase of their project-from planning to deployment to post-installation support. Responsible for directing and managing all engineering development programs for existing contracts and internal product development. The V.P. Engineering (VPE) shall advise senior management about the planning, implementation, staffing requirements, funding needs required to carry out statements of work or major product development. The VPE should build, scale, and improve the performance of the group to support operations with products and documentation for manufacture. The role will be responsible for driving the implementation of practical processes and ensure practices are consistent with Rapiscan and the rest of business. The VPE will direct engineering staff to define and develop requirements and documentation for engineering based on internal or external customer requirements. The VPE defines testing and certification procedures of product deliverables that will be implemented by applications, test engineering, and QC personnel, for both external clients and internal product development. The VPE is responsible for directing the creation of planning documents, implementation of engineering programs, writing proposals, and providing monthly reports for client programs. The VPE will identify and recommend new product development opportunities with the V.P. Product Management. The recommendations will leverage existing product capabilities and develop new ones. The VPE shall work with the Rad Detection V.P. Product Management, and the Rad Detection OPS leadership to develop financial analysis regarding return of net investment of new product technologies that may result from engineering program activities with respect to non-recurring engineering costs, capital investments, operating costs, and potential sales opportunities. The VPE will be responsible for all ongoing engineering programs including cost plus development contracts for merit of the scientific approach, adequacy of staffing and use of consultants to successfully accomplish the work and meet the required deliverables. The VPE or his staff will, with the GM's approval (and as appropriate Client approval), present papers at scientific conferences and attend meetings to identify new scientific opportunities.
