Job Overview

This position is responsible for leading and maintaining a proactive safety culture and compliance for all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety for the site.

A Day In The Life


  • Assist the leadership team to maintain a safe environment free of recognized hazards by working with plant supervision and the maintenance team to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local procedures, policies, and regulations.



  • Coordinate Safety Training activities for new and existing employees.Monitor training effectiveness and advise leadership personnel of deficiencies and corrective actions.



  • Lead plant safety committee activities to promote proactive safety awareness and compliance.



  • Manage all Injury/workman's compensation claims of OSHA recordables and first aids.



  • Maintain environmental compliance of federal, state and local requirements through site audits and timely corrective action implementation including No Exposure Certification, hazardous and non-hazardous waste determination, management and reduction.



  • Lead by example with a professional demeanor to develop and maintain an open, positive and proactive safety culture.



  • Develop, maintain and file all required reports such as, OSHA 300 log submittal, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II, NEC Notifications, etc..



  • Manageand develop direct reports, contractors and consultants as needed.



  • Develop and maintain Internal working relationships with: Leadership Staff, Production Supervision and Maintenance/ FacilitiesTeam.



  • Oversee and perform purchasing of all needed/required safety supplies, products or training items as required.



  • Support Lean manufacturing working with the KAIZEN promotion office and key staff personnel to identify and drive continuous improvement activities.



  • Other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.



What will help you thrive in this role?


  • B.S./B.A. degree (or 4 years of equivalent EH&S experience) with a minimum of 4 year of experience in Environmental Health and Safety.



  • Demonstrated ability to use judgment and available information to make accurate decisions to protect workers health and safety.



  • Excellent prioritization skills.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


  • Excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure.

  • Strong planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
