- Drive growth strategy for transportation services in the Charlotte region and surrounding markets; support marketing, branding, and proposal efforts aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement client capture plans, teaming strategies, and pursuit roadmaps.
- Serve as Senior Project Manager on select transportation design projects-particularly those that are complex, multidisciplinary, or high-profile.
- Lead or support alternative delivery pursuits and project execution (e.g., Design-Build, P3).
- Build and mentor a high-performing team; support staff development through coaching, training, and collaborative leadership.
- Participate in industry organizations, events, and conferences to raise VHB's profile and build meaningful relationships with decision-makers and teaming partners.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, regional infrastructure priorities, funding programs, and agency initiatives.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- 11-15+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and project delivery.
- Strong familiarity with NCDOT and SCDOT project delivery processes and key contacts.
- Proven success in client relationship management and business development, including developing win strategies and leading proposal efforts.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina required (SC PE preferred or ability to obtain).
- Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build) and contractors is a strong plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, including highway design, permitting, and regulatory standards.
- Proficiency with design tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and OpenRoads Designer is beneficial but not required.
