SALARY RANGE: $135,000 - 150,000

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Services Manager provides leadership and management of the Infrastructure and Business Systems server team. This team's primary objectives are to provide, operate, and maintain a secure, scalable, highly-available server infrastructure that meets the technology needs of the company.Position reports to an IT Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the daily operation of the company's physical and virtual Windows/Linux server infrastructure by ensuring members of the team take appropriate actions to deliver a reliable, secure computing environment.
  • Oversees vulnerability management of the server infrastructure in alignment with remediation service level agreements and in a prioritized manner as directed by Information Security.
  • Works with IT leadership to ensure that projects and infrastructure upgrades are properly prioritized and scheduled.
  • Maintain and/or generate documentation of technical assets, management and support processes and metrics.
  • Serves as technical expert to the department assisting in training and escalation of requests from other Windows and Linux systems administrators.


JOB SCOPE:
  • The role works with the Director of IT responsible for Infrastructure, Servers and End User Support to develop department planning and direction setting that delivers on prioritized technical initiatives. In this role the Technical Services manager will be expected to play a key role in day to day operations and will perform critical technical tasks as required based on workload and team availability. A key area of delivery is maintaining a high level of server availability.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are critical for a successful candidate. The candidate will communicate with and provide regular verbal and written status reports to the IT Director, IT team members, and potentially internal and external business unit leaders.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
The role supervises teams focused on Network, Computing Infrastructure and Desktop Engineering.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work independently, to keep up with the changing technological field, and to work under conflicting requirements of users versus system requirements, limitations and capabilities.

  • Supports server hardware - Extensive experience with Windows required. Experience with Linux preferred.
  • Management of Microsoft's cloud environment (Entre) and O365 environment required.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, staff, internal and external customers, vendors, and consultants.
  • Strong informal influence skills; the ability to succeed in accomplishing tasks when the performers are not necessarily in the direct line of authority.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Requires a degree of creativity and latitude.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • 4 year degree in computer science or related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum five years of direct Windows system administration and have working knowledge of Linux/Unix.
  • Experience working in an environment dealing with Government contracting and compliance requirements preferred.
  • Minimum two years of management/supervision experience, preferably in Information Technology, or other closely related discipline.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Current Microsoftcertification.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard.The individual may be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships.He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites.The person must be able to climb inclined stairways. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.Good finger, hand and wrist dexterity required for extensive computer operations.The person must have good hand-eye coordination and may spend extended time sitting in front of a computer terminal.He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work.There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 10% of the time with notice.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
