Lippert is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to be responsible for applying a solid foundation of engineering experience to solving increasingly more difficult assignments, managing multiple priorities, leveraging known resources, under minimal direct supervision. Work on existing products, new products, and/or as-yet-undeveloped ideas that begin to focus more on system or sub-system solutions rather than component specific problems. Support existing production products through VAVE and Continuous Improvement efforts. Design complete mechanical systems, products, or product families of large scope for products ranging from simple products to complex systems to satisfy customer requirements. Direct, coordinate, support, and/or audit manufacturing and assembly activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design specifications and customer expectations. Provide technical leadership for a project team. Research and analyze data such as internal customer product proposals, drawings/specifications, application, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application considering cost, time, and other factors. Delegate related work to Mechanical Designers on the team. Predict test performance based on sound engineering practices. Plan and direct personnel in fabrication of test equipment and develops methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Analyze test data for viability of accuracy and development of products. Participate in/direct the hands-on assembly or prototyping of engineering concepts and/or Alpha build products. Investigate and solve problems that affect scrap, warranty/reliability, and product cost for new and/or existing products. Practice use of stage gate development methods, engineering tools, and related industry standards. Communicate design intent through creation of robust engineering or product specifications and along with the documented specifications, provide the necessary guidance to mechanical designers for successful design execution. May telecommute from any location in the U.S. HQ in Elkhart, IN. This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field and 3 years related experience. Must also have 24 months of demonstrated experience with each of the following: (1) Engineering, designing, and fabricating molds and parts for plastic injection and other high complexity mechanisms along with associated tooling; (2) Using CAD software, simulations, 3D printing, and prototyping; (3) Analyzing FMEA, DFMEA, and UFMEA of developed products; (4) Coordinating design, engineering, and quality departments in multilevel engineering changes on molds, engineered components, and assemblies in a factory setting; and (5) Performing accurate and complete system tolerance stack up analysis assessing accumulated dimension/tolerance variation of multi-component assemblies. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ 3501 County Road 6 East, Elkhart, IN. 30% international travel (Mexico) required for product launches and supplier visits. Full-time position.
