Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Admin Specialist for the Psychology Department within the School of Arts & Sciences. This position is for a Unit Admin Specialist working in Calvin Lai's lab.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Administration: Assists with supervising undergraduate research assistants, scheduling, organization, ordering supplies, and assisting with submitting applications and modifications to the university IRB, etc.
  • Study materials development: The employee will work with the PI to conduct a literature review, create study materials, and make accompanying audio and video recordings.
  • Testing / Data Collection: The employee will administer studies to participants.
  • Coding Data: The employee will be responsible for appropriately transporting, backing up, compiling, and analyzing data. The employee may also code data from video.
  • Present ongoing project reports in regular meetings with the PI: the employee will meet with the PI each week to discuss research progress and address any issues that arise.
  • Recruitment: This position requires the employee to work with the PI to recruit samples to participate in the project. After initial recruitment, the employee will work with individual supervisors or teachers to schedule times for data collection.
  • Assists with writing manuscripts and preparing grant proposals.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior research experience in a psychology research lab, though relevant coursework or research in related fields might count toward experience.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative on array of projects and duties each day.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., knowledge or potential to learn R, SPSS, Qualtrics, JavaScript, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop).
