Role Summary

This Sr. Program Manager will have a heavy focus on compliance/Department of Energy implementation for Capex. This role will be based in Palo Alto, CA and report to the Sr. Manager, Program Management - Capex.


Responsibilities

  • This role has a heavy focus with compliance / Department of Energy (DOE) requirements for Capex.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, develop specifications, and ensure alignment on procurement strategies for capital expenditures.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for CapEx procurement projects, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks and roadblocks, specifically those related to compliance.
  • Develop and implement processes for tracking and documenting information for all relevant capital expenditures reporting
  • Prepare regular reports on the tariff landscape and its impact on Capex projects for relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage internal relationships, monitor performance, and address any issues related to lender compliance or project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the CapEx procurement process, focusing on cost optimization, efficiency, risk mitigation, and adherence to DOE requirements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation strategies effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead to the development and maintenance of relevant documentation, including policies, procedures, and templates specific to CapEx procurement and DOE compliance.
  • Ensure all CapEx procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant DOE regulations.

Qualifications

  • Department of Energy compliance reporting strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, with a significant focus on capital expenditure (CapEx) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of capital equipment acquisition, contract negotiation, tariffs, and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated experience in incorporating and managing compliance requirements within the procurement process.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-value procurement projects from initiation to completion, with a strong focus on compliance.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa) and e-procurement platforms.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex proposals and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across different teams and with external suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $107,000 - $133,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
