Job Summary

Shape the Future of Campus Dining - Director of Food Service Operations
Location: St. Edward's University | Austin, Texas

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a motivated, hands-on Director of Food Service Operations to support our newest account at St. Edward's University in the heart of Austin, Texas. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the launch and growth of a campus dining program-bringing energy, innovation, and excellence to every meal served.

What You'll Be Doing:
Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day foodservice operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and service excellence.
Team Leadership: Guide and develop frontline supervisors and staff, building a positive, performance-driven culture.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all food quality, sanitation, and regulatory standards are consistently met or exceeded.
Client & Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with students, staff, and campus partners to ensure satisfaction and drive retention.
Support Strategic Initiatives: Partner with the General Manager on key projects and process improvements aligned with Chartwells' goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred
  • Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
  • ServSafe Certified
