We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Cloud Data Engineering & Solution Architecture to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, providing solution-centered thought leadership, delivery excellence, and deep technology and business domain knowledge

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Serve as a trusted advisor for our clients through solution-centered thought leadership, delivery excellence, and deep technology and business domain knowledge
  • Serve as the information management subject matter expert who provides data management strategy and architecture recommendations for the organization and leadership.
  • Cloud-first solution architect to lead the design, development and implementation of data ingestion, transformation, and data integrations to create, enhance or modernize data and analytics solutions
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in cloud platforms and cloud-native AI, analytics, big data and associated technologies, data quality, governance, and architecture
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking aptitude with problem-solving skills
  • Develop data strategies to support digital and analytics roadmap
  • Define and implement effective data governance and data quality frameworks and MDM initiatives
  • Advise on data management practices, approaches, and frameworks
  • Advise on data access security requirements pertinent to healthcare data management assets and architect data access and security solutions
  • Build rapport with clients with superior executive presence enabled with strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Actively mentor team members, through code reviews, brown bags, tech talks, design reviews
  • Self-driven, ownership mindset to navigate ambiguity, identify options to resolve constraints, mitigate business risks and define solutions to business problems without much hand holding
  • Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and invest in people development via active coaching and mentoring

Required Qualifications:



  • 12+ years of Data Architecture & Data Engineering experience leading teams
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing data warehouse and analytics solutions on prem and on cloud
  • 5+ years of experience leading data engineering teams through a product life cycle - requirements, design, development, testing and deployment
  • 2+ years of experience designing and implementing health care data and information management solutions in cloud and familiarity with provider data
  • Solid foundational and experience working with Azure or AWS cloud data engineering stack, architecture patterns and best practices; Cloud Solution Architecture, Cloud Data Engineering certification would be a plus
  • Experience in data management activities such as ETL, data quality management, data privacy & security, and MDM
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as Python/Scala/Java
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Understanding of, and preferably experience with, NoSQL and Graph databases and data architectures along w/ deep experience with relational and dimensional data architecture
  • Experience in Data Warehousing concepts, ETL, data quality management, data privacy and security and MDM with constituent technologies such as Informatica, Data Stage, Talend, Collibra, Alation, Reltio, Debezium, Hadoop, Graph Database, SSIS etc.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Data Bricks, and Big Query a big plus
  • Exposure to and experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, QlikView, Tableau, Domo etc.
  • Ideally experience with Java and/or Kafka streaming architectures
  • Proficiency in software delivery experience using Agile including CI/CD and DevOps with constituent applications such as Jira, Rally, Aha, GitHub, Selenium, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of healthcare industry w/ good understanding of medical claims. pharmacy claims, eligibility, and clinical data - including EMR data

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
