Solenis Pool Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Packaging Engineer to lead a strategic Packaging Optimization Initiative within our Consumer Products division. You will provide both technical leadership and project management to drive innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence across global packaging operations.

In this position, you will play a key role in enhancing global packaging capabilities, promoting best practices, and supporting budget management and departmental reporting efforts. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in packaging materials and formats including HDPE, PET, PP plastics, corrugated, folding cartons, pails, closures, and closure liners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a comprehensive review of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging to identify and implement optimal standardized packaging solutions.
  • Evaluate packaging materials and systems to enhance recyclability and identify opportunities for sustainable improvements.
  • Conduct Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) comparisons to assess environmental impacts of proposed packaging changes.
  • Analyze and recommend optimal packaging decoration methods, including leveraging internal capabilities for in-plant labeling of primary packaging.
  • Drive reduction in closure liner complexity to streamline packaging SKUs and manufacturing processes.
  • Update pallet stacking patterns and ensure accurate data is maintained in SAP to enhance reporting and traceability.
  • Partner with the Procurement team to identify, document, and track cost-saving initiatives related to packaging improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering
  • Experience with multiple packaging forms (plastic bottles, corrugate, closures, labels and multi-layer film)
  • Technical knowledge of packaging substrates and manufacturing processes
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Subject matter expertise in packaging with extensive knowledge/ experience of packaging for consumer and industrial applications
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working with data to guide decision making through design of experiments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with strong influencing and persuasive talents
  • Experience in operational or commercial roles with proven track record in delivering year to year savings and driving change through organizations
  • AutoCAD experience is required
  • Sustainability experience is required
  • Experience working with Microsoft office platforms inc. PowerPoint
  • Up to 30% travel required

Whilst this position is remote, you would be required to work on EST.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $91,800.00 and $128,625.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
