Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will hold a master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director for Greek Life will work alongside Greek Life Office staff to support more than 9,500 students who belong to over 65 recognized fraternities and sororities. Reporting to the Director of Greek Life, the Assistant Director will directly advise the National Pan-Hellenic Council ( NPHC) and provide support to the Multicultural Greek Council ( MGC) and its advisor while assisting with the growth, development and success of the Greek Life community. The Assistant Director will also provide fiscal oversight, lead service and philanthropy efforts, and serve as a key liaison to advisors, alumni, national organizations, and campus partners. This position directly supervises and oversees the work of one Coordinator for Greek Life.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Knowledge of Greek-Lettered Organizations: Strong understanding of the culture, traditions, and operations of Greek-lettered organizations, including governance, recruitment, chapter operations, and programming. Familiarity with national organization policies and campus-based advising practices is preferred.
* Relationship-Building Skills: Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, national organizations, and house corporations.
* Communication Skills: Proficiency in writing, public speaking, and interpersonal communication, with experience in engaging with students individually and in groups to provide support, advisement, and leadership development.
* Technological Proficiency: Ability to effectively communicate using virtual tools and technology to ensure accessibility and timely information sharing.
* Crisis Response Skills: Capability to respond promptly and appropriately to both routine and crisis situations, ensuring student safety and continuity of operations within Greek housing and broader community contexts.

Advisement:

  • Directly advise the NPHC and the NPHC Executive Board and provide support to its 8 nationally affiliated women's and men's sororities and fraternities, totaling 150 undergraduate members.
  • Lead the experiential learning experiences involving NPHC Executive Board Officers and chapter presidents. Including facilitations of leadership training programs, retreats, and officer development initiatives.
  • Assist in the oversight and advisement of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) and its executive board including the experiential learning experiences for the Executive Board Officers and chapter presidents.
  • Maintain fiscal oversight of program budgets of NPHC and MGC, totaling $40,000 annually and utilizes appropriate procurement and contracting practices.
  • Create and maintains statistics, rosters, and appropriate organizational records. Independently producing reports for UGA fraternity and sorority chapters and national offices.
  • Create and sustain partnerships with chapter advisors, local and community stakeholders, alumni, and national organizations to support the development of a positive Greek Life community in alignment with the University's strategic plan.
  • Develops, implements, and supports educational programs and initiatives that align with departmental priorities, which focus on areas such as risk management, hazing prevention, sexual assault prevention, and new member orientation and education.

Service and Philanthropy Initiatives:

  • Plan and execute community-wide service and philanthropy efforts, including the planning and execution of Greek Day of Service (GDOS).
  • Develop and facilitate training sessions for chapter officers on effectively using the UGA Engage / GivePulse platform to track, document, and report their chapter's community service and philanthropy efforts. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to ensure accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Oversee the department's initiatives to acknowledge and celebrate fraternity and sorority members' contributions to community service and philanthropy. Manage recognition programs, highlight student impact through various communication channels.
  • Engage with local nonprofits, community agencies, and university stakeholders to establish and sustain long-term partnerships that create meaningful service opportunities for Greek organizations.
  • Collaborate with chapter leaders to align service initiatives with community needs and enhance the impact of Greek Life at UGA.

  • Provide direct supervision and evaluation to Coordinator for Greek Life and MGC Advisor conducting regular check-ins, performance reviews, and goal-setting meetings to align their responsibilities with the Greek Life Office's mission and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Offer guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to support success and effectiveness to the Coordinator for Greek Life.
  • Actively promote and participate in the engagement, retention & development of each staff member.

  • Serve as a Standards of Excellence Coach to a portfolio of 10 chapters across all four governing councils (IFC, MGC, NPHC, and Panhellenic).
