The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus, the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human health.

Position Summary
This position will organize and assist in implementation of research projects including data collection, assay development and execution, and project management. Skilled to perform molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as, RT and gel-based PCR, flow cytometry, western blots, cell culture, ELISAs, and HPLC. Routine laboratory support duties to include washing and autoclaving glassware, maintenance of lab equipment, preparing culture media, and proper disposal of laboratory waste. Order, stock and inventory supplies as needed; maintain a clean and sterile lab environment; assist with research associated administration duties such as package shipping and receiving. Prepare data reports. Sample processing, assay development and execution for clinical trials. Assist with literature searches and file management, with the possibility of learning new computer skills. Work with multiple investigators within the College of Veterinary Medicine if needed. Job duties will vary with each investigator. Willingness to do light animal work when requested. Will have good communication skills and will report directly to the Laboratory Manager and as a fully productive, cooperative team member. Maintain accurate records with every aspect of research projects.
