PROCESS TECHNICIAN - 3RD SHIFT
FARWELL, MI - PLANT
As a member of the Process team, the Process Technician will function as the "hands on" processing person on the production line and is involved with all variables affecting the process: mold temperature, mix of raw materials, line speed, pour patterns (if applicable), and the control of robotics and mechanical aspects of the operation.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
Daily Duties:
- General working knowledge of robot(s); the ability to edit or modify a pour program when needed
- Ability to perform calibrations, adjust pressures, clean and oil the pour head.
- Validation of the mold line-up according to the production schedule provided.
- Ability to evaluate and adjust tool and part configurations. Such as TPR and carrier pressure as needed.
- Accurate entry of all controlled measurables into the designated Process Databases.
- Check and record controlled part weight parts to maintain designated specification.
- Check and adjust mold temperature to maintain a designated specification.
- Check and adjust material temperatures to maintain a designated specification.
- Ensure bulk wax tank mixers are on and operational.
- Submit part(s) 1st piece and PPAP to the ILD lab according to the established procedure.
- Update and complete daily in process check sheet.
- Safely and effectively perform line start up and shut down.
- Evaluation of the parts being produced throughout the shift in effort to maintain and improve the RFT.
- Effective communication and involvement with all departments.
Periodic Duties:
- Perform and maintain a clean and organized work area utilizing designated 5S and MVP assigned tasks.
- Perform foam reactivity based on KPI frequency.
- Check wax gun calibration based on KPI frequency.
- Setup and commissioning of new mix chamber and cleanout as needed. Following written procedure.
- Run sample parts as required. Including (SER's, PPAP's, and Preproduction)
- Record and maintain all process changes. Such as GFS pour parameters and robot program data.
- Assist other departments when needed. This includes (shutdowns and other times when extra help is needed)
- Knowledge and ability to use TDI neutralizer.
- Assist in the set-up of new production lines.
- Train and mentor new technicians.
- Utilize formal problem-solving process for production and mechanical problems.
- Must be trained and certified in HazWoper to be able to perform tasks related to the cleanup of a chemical spill.
The Hour-by-Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:
Processing / Control / Measure / Evaluate (50% of day)
Troubleshooting / Mentoring (50% of day)
Your Qualifications:
- Excellent organization skills.
- Able to assist and direct hourly associates when necessary.
- Excellent people skills; conflict resolution skills.
- Able to work any schedule (shift); excellent attendance.
- Knowledge of all customer standards and specifications.
- Excellent written & oral communication skills.
- Process qualification test score of 90% or better.
- Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test and be certified able to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours per day)
- Work is performed in a production environment with moving machinery and chemical reactions
- Must be able to move quickly and perform calibrations and other adjustments to the line in short windows of time
- Must be able to operate with chemical suit and breathing apparatus (supplied air) while performing cleanup operations
