Job Summary:

The Consumer Loan Officer I provides services to customers seeking consumer loans. This individual evaluates and may inspect items to be secured; evaluates credit and earning condition of loan applicants; stays abreast of consumer financial trends. The officer may be assigned limited credit authority.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the loan policy and procedure statement as it relates to consumer lending and comply with all provisions thereof.
  • Perform thorough analysis of proposed loan feasibility by analyzing customer's financial records, cash flow, collateral valuation and credit history. Understand and document the specific purposes of the loan, the source and plan of repayment, and all back-up sources of repayment.
  • Communicate with customer for additional information as necessary and when loan decisions are final.
  • Complete loan set up sheet for loan documentation staff and assist in obtaining necessary documentation for loan closing.
  • Review and approve loan closing papers.
  • Service loans as needed including monitoring loans for credit risk changes and managing past due loan payments, including pursuing collection of past due and charged off loans.
  • Achieve and maintain required loan portfolio balance and yield as directed by senior management.
  • Develop new business, maintain professional network, and establish favorable presence in local community by participating in civic organizations and community activities.
  • Participate in a team effort to cross-sell other services of the bank.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • At least two years experience in bank lending, such as consumer lending, credit analysis, loan operations or assisting loan officers is required. Sales experience is a plus.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to represent the Bank in a positive way in dealing with customers and other employees
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency including Microsoft programs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in banking compliance issues is required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
  • Must have ability to travel through market for various meetings and appointments
