Quality Engineer II

As the Quality Engineer II, you will participate as a member of a cross-functional team with Engineering functions by representing the Quality Assurance discipline. Supports and facilitates APQP activities such as risk assessment, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and control plan development to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks

As a Quality Engineer II you will:



  • Be responsible for supporting quality assurance best practice and outcomes through utilization of APQP tools (PPAP, FMEA's, control plans, capability studies).
  • Conduct process audits across Engineering to ensure accuracy of paperwork, test reports, and compliance to all G&W procedures to mitigate quality risks.
  • Develop and administer project specific quality plan in support of each project.
  • Administer an open issues list to achieve on-time closure with a cross functional team.
  • Incorporate product requirements into program Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) plan and assures requirements are cascaded to components of the APQP plan.
  • As required, partner with supplier quality team on the supplier PPAP requirements and compliance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of statistics (Yields, X-Bar & R, Sigma, Pp/Ppk, Cp/Cpk, Gage R&R, etc.) on all significant part and internal process characteristics on new products.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations and follow up to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks, i.e. include project 8D's and 5Y's and reporting status to closure.
  • Support development of prototype control plan; collects and analyzes pilot build data to refine.
  • Provide quality/warranty concerns to team by reviewing lessons learned, warranty performance, and ensures additions to the FMEAs.
  • Perform plant control plan and PFMEA audits at major milestone events or as needed and manages / drives open issues list with cross functional team.
  • Keep good quality plan records and informs program team of timely execution.


We are looking for someone who:



  • Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related area
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Has knowledge and exposure of most Advanced Quality Planning tools (PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, Process Mapping, Gage Studies, and SPC).
  • Has knowledge and ability to apply statistical tools/methods to sample size, problem solving and process improvement (Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Principles, Root Cause Analysis, Mistake Proofing/Poka Yoke).
  • Possesses knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Has strong organization and presentation skills
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with multiple levels of personnel/departments within the organization
  • Has the ability to advocate product excellence and quality.


Ideally you will also have:



  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Advanced knowledge of audit methodologies related to process audits and quality systems audits


The Physical Demands/Working Conditions are:



  • General Office Environment, PC use
  • Travel up to 10%
  • Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)
  • Stooping
  • Standing


What we offer you:

Typical pay is $80,000 - 94,915 annually.

Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program
