Description
A Brief Overview The responsibility of the Trauma Data Coordinator is to ensure the Trauma Registry contains detailed, reliable, and readily accessible information needed to support the operations, quality initiative and research of University Hospitals Medical Centers. Data collected describes the injury event, demographics, pre-hospital information, diagnosis, care, outcomes, and costs of treatment for injured patients. The data collected is a required component of Trauma Center verification by the American College of Surgeons and required by state law. Trauma registry data is submitted to the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) as on ongoing requirement of Trauma Center Verification, as well as State and Regional TQIP collaboratives. Registry data may be used internally and externally for research, clinical performance improvement (PI), public health initiatives, injury prevention strategies, UHCMC initiatives, clinical outcomes measurement, and resource utilization.
