The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Wechsler-Reya lab is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic individual to help with daily lab operations in a translational research lab at Columbia University Medical Center. The goal of our research is to develop personalized therapies for children with brain tumors. For more information about the lab, please see www.wechsler-reya.org.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Coordinate with clinicians to obtain tissue from surgery.
  • Perform molecular and cellular analysis to identify potential therapies.
  • Use cancer models to test therapies.
  • Work with lab members on projects related to metastasis, drug delivery, and immunotherapy.
  • Assist with IRB protocols and other regulatory aspects of working with human tissue.
  • Coordinate with clinicians to obtain tissue from surgery.
  • Perform molecular and cellular analysis of tissue (e.g. sequencing, drug screening) to identify potential therapies.
  • Work with bioinformatics experts to analyze data and prioritize therapies for further study.
  • Use models to test the effects of therapies on tumor growth.
  • Work with lab members on projects related to metastasis, drug delivery, and immunotherapy.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics, math, computer sciences, or related fields.


Other Requirements



  • Background in neuroscience, developmental biology, or cancer biology, and experience working with animals, are helpful.


Preferred Qualifications



  • One year of related experience.
