Bridge Task Leader / Senior Bridge Engineer
Location: Spokane, Washington Salary Range: $136,000-$163,000 (depending on experience) Hybrid-friendly schedule (not fully remote) Shape the Future of Infrastructure with DEA David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Bridge Task Leader / Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Spokane office. This is a high-impact role for a motivated, technically skilled professional eager to lead challenging bridge projects across the Pacific Northwest. You'll play a key role in shaping transportation infrastructure-from concept through construction-and mentoring the next generation of engineers. What You'll Do
Lead Projects with Purpose
- Serve as a key technical expert in the planning, design, analysis, rehabilitation, and construction of bridges for highway, rail, and transit applications.
- Lead development of deliverables such as concept studies, Type-Size-and-Location (TS&L) reports, structural calculations, plans, specifications, estimates, and schedules.
- Manage project delivery to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget compliance, exceeding client expectations.
Inspire Excellence
- Check and review calculations, plans, and reports for technical accuracy, code compliance, and constructability.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to help grow DEA's technical capabilities and future leaders.
- Take the lead on bridge inspection and condition assessments, load ratings, and report preparation.
Collaborate and Grow
- Work closely with public and private clients including DOTs and local agencies.
- Participate in strategic project development and client engagement.
- Support proposal development and pursuit efforts as a technical lead or writer.
- Translate client needs into actionable solutions, representing DEA with professionalism and integrity.
What Sets You Apart
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 12+ years of progressive bridge engineering experience
- Licensed PE in Washington or Idaho
- Strong command of bridge design software (e.g., SAP2000, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, PGSuper, LPile, Conspan, BRASS)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards
- Ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and build client trust
- Willingness and physical ability to conduct field inspections in variable weather
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Structural Engineer (SE) license in Washington or Idaho
- Familiarity with WSDOT and ITD bridge design standards
- Experience with bridge load rating methodologies and inspection best practices
