Overview:

The Manager, Manufacturing ensures a high-quality continuous improvement culture, focuses on problem-solving using tools such as 8D, and implements lean principles such as value-stream mapping and 6S. The successful candidate will be capable of managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously with a "hands-on" style. The candidate must exemplify true leadership in developing his/her team and in general building credibility in Veeco. Direct production activities of in-house manufacturing and coordination of outsource partners to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedule based on customer requirements, design releases and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets.

Responsibilities:



  • Supervise, organize, and motivate production employees.
  • Direct Production efforts to meet quarterly/annual plans. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Works with Planning, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Purchasing to achieve customer ship dates. Manages the flow of materials and assemblies to meet the needs of the production schedules.
  • Identify gaps in production process and make recommendations as required to sufficiently remedy issues.
  • Develop organization - training, mentoring coaching and leading organization. Evaluate strengths/ weaknesses and take action to ensure long-term health, productivity, and a high-performance culture.
  • Institutionalize continuous improvement using 8D problem-solving. Ensure closed loop feedback from quality escapes to customer site in order to drive corrective action. Contributing member of Operational Excellence Teams for assigned production area(s).
  • Track and present key performance indicators (KPI's), lessons learned, and corrective actions monthly.
  • Deliver sustained improvements to safety policies, practices and procedures.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business with 10+ years of relevant production experience.

Experience managing production of complex electro-mechanical equipment required.

5+ years prior experience supervising/managing required.

ERP experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Semiconductor capital equipment industry and vacuum equipment experience desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems manufacturing environment desired.
  • SAP experience preferred


The expected salary range for this position is $97,154.00 - $123,062.05, plus a bonus opportunity.
