Claims Specialist, East Region

At DSV, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Claims Specialist for the East Coast Region. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating customer claims related to cargo incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution while safeguarding DSV's legal interests.

This is a full-time Claims Specialist role located in Atlanta, GA or Iselin, NJ.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Handling of global Freight Forwarders Liability and Cargo Insurance claims in DSV including coordination of reserves, updating comments in system on time and according to overall rules, correct usage of legislation, completing analysing and classifying claim's documentation.
• Handling all kinds of transport claims on a global scale in DSV Group.
• Maintaining professional relationships with customers and internal stakeholders all over the world.
• Participating in internal projects, leading the internal trainings.
• Cooperation with DSV offices all over the world.
• Co-creation and optimization of claims handling processes.
• Responsibility for handling customers claims and cooperating with subcontractors

Educational background / Work experience

• Degree in Law, International Business, Foreign Trade, or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar position in claims handling or insurance.
• Experience working in an international organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of international logistics and transportation
• Knowledge of transport law and regulations
• Experience in insurance

• Communication skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation
• Analytical and investigative skills, including root cause analysis
• Customer service orientation, maintain professionalism under pressure
• Administrative and Organizational abilities, detail oriented, accurate, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines
• Ability to make fair and unbiased decisions, make independent decisions

Language skills

• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Other languages are a plus

Computer Literacy

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Claims management software proficiency
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technology platforms used in the transportation and logistics industry.

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. Hours can be extensive as well as occasionally staggered for multi-shift access. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. For this position, the expected base pay is: $22.50 - $30.00 / Hourly. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
