TheSupplier Manufacturing Excellence Engineering Lead - Lean Manufacturing is responsible for leading Supply Chain Engineering activities for: optimizing our supplier manufacturing processes by implementing lean principles. The role involves analyzing current processes, designing efficient systems, development and/or improvement within the supply base, and supplier issue resolution. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments, use statistical methods for performance analysis, and provide training on lean techniques. This is a US Only Remote role. Your Day to Day:
- Develop and deliver training programs for lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Works with Product Engineering to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to support suppliers.
- Works directly with suppliers to implement and perform process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification.
- Lead technical assessments of suppliers for manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes & standards, and associated risks.
- Lead supplier development and qualification activities for new products (e.g., identification of project risks and mitigating actions, managing project schedules, approval of supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, etc.).
- Lead cost reduction activities within the supply base.
- Lead complex issue recovery efforts.
- Maintain industry leading knowledge through training, research, process councils, etc.
- Mentor and train members of the Supplier Performance Engineering teams.
- Lead high-impact product and process-focused projects on complex products and manufacturing and internal processes. Utilizing industry-proven lean and six-sigma methodologies.
- Design and implement internal systems that improve productivity and reduce defects.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree, or higher in Engineering
- 5+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, 10-15 years typical
- Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in the nuclear or related energy industry (desired).
- Professional Certifications: Lean Six-Sigma, Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), Certified Weld Inspector (CWI), ASNT Level III, or equivalent experience and a development plan to pursue.
