Daikin Applied is seeking a Field Sales Engineer III to join our New York-based sales team to help develop our Long Island territory! The Field Sales Engineer will work in an assigned territory and partner closely with mechanical contractors, owners/customers, manufacturing representatives and consulting engineers to direct, control and assist in project design and specifications toward both the customers' and Daikin Applied's best interests. The focus of the sales will target commercial buildings, industrial plants, and all phases of selling equipment. The Field Sales Engineer will also ensure that the obtainment of new equipment sales growth, mix and profit objective is met. Location: Hybrid in New York City/Long Island

What you will do:



  • Achieve quarterly quotas and annual sales plans
  • Obtain and close sales on a monthly basis
  • Consistent planning and affecting sales activities to provide maximum selling time, with minimal travel and waiting time, and to create new business through organized prospecting to increase Daikin Applied's share of business from assigned accounts
  • Create short-term and long-range planning for certain projects by an intricate progression of customer contacts, and cooperation with other Sales Engineers, Sales Agents, Districts, Regions and Headquarters
  • Analyze customer needs with respect to several alternate solutions using Daikin Applied air conditioning and refrigeration products, systems and service
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitive products and system characteristics, including knowledge of local competitive pricing and must be able to apply economic consideration: first cost, operating cost, owning cost, to projects on candidate is working
  • Analysis of competitive products and selling techniques
  • Verifies prices and provides product descriptions based on available data, using company pricing lists and related information
  • Complete financial analysis of equipment purchases
  • Participates in the local ASHRAE chapter
  • Perform take-offs of plans and specifications, develop and price the estimate; write the proposal and bid the job with selections of Daikin Applied equipment utilizing competitive advantages
  • Prepare and submit all technical data for approval. Review of all submittals and orders prior to processing
  • Oversee order entry and execution, in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Service the customer after the sale and during installation to ensure complete satisfaction and to promote future business by assisting with obtaining drawing approval, timely release for fabrication, credit and legal coordination, providing customers with timely shipping information, job site visits with customers, service coordination and occasional factory visits to help sell and execute specific products or projects
  • Consistently manages multiple projects
  • Assists with training of new Sales Engineers

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years or professional Sales experience
  • Competitor experience in commercial HVAC industry experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Ability to travel



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience creating sales proposals, quotes, and reviewing contracts
  • Demonstrated sales success -- energized by meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated example of taking initiative with a solid work ethic
  • Exceptional communication skills, well developed listening skills, and ability to interpret business and/or client needs

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $107,900 - $135,000 in New York/New Jersey. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for a sales incentive plan.
