Position Title: Purchasing/Buyer Agent

Location: Remote, USA

Position Overview:

The Purchasing/Buyer Agent plays a key role in supporting a small number of US plants by managing and procuring raw materials and packaging components, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining effective supplier relationships. Reporting to the Purchasing Lead under the sourcing organization, the agent oversees purchase orders from creation to delivery using Adage and ASSISTics, while monitoring inventory levels and ensuring supply availability through communication with relevant departments and suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Purchase Orders (60%)

  • Manage and procure new and existing raw materials and packaging components for scale-up and production use. Monitor inventory levels while considering shelf life and communicate with relevant departments to ensure supply availability.
  • Generate purchase orders and manage them through receipt to meet delivery dates according to manufacturing needs set by Production Planners.
  • Analyze and control purchasing activities to assure continuous supply of materials at the lowest inventory level possible to meet customer demand.
  • Reconcile purchase orders to statements and invoices, ensuring accuracy.

Vendor Communication and Coordination (30%)

  • Manage delivery and logistics updates for bulk raw materials into tanks at plants, ensuring timely deliveries and coordination with manufacturing teams for efficient unloading.
  • Maintain good working relationships with suppliers to stay informed of market trends and conditions affecting the department.
  • Perform expediting duties as needed, process claims for materials received in damaged condition, and handle returns.
  • Promptly escalate key issues to the Purchasing Lead or Sourcing Manager for resolution.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Create warehouse transfers for products from other H.B. Fuller facilities.
  • Support cross-functional departments, including supply chain, operations, and sourcing.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time to manufacturing sites.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems such as Adage, ASSISTics, or SAP.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing purchase orders and procurement records.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with supply chain logistics and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of market supply trends and their impact on purchasing activities.
  • Proven track record of identifying and resolving supply issues efficiently.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 15% travel to manufacturing sites as needed.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $57,000 - $67,000.
