About This Role
The Communications and Marketing Specialist will develop, implement, and analyze strategic communications for the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education. The primary focus for this position is the promotion of academic program opportunities and professional communication services for the university, College of Agriculture, and K-State Research and Extension. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strategic communication development, management and implementation: Develop, plan, and execute multi-faceted strategic communication initiatives/campaigns for the purpose of recruiting/retaining students and the promotion of departmental academic programs.
- Write and edit copy for news releases, newsletters, social media posts, website, and marketing/promotional pieces to announce and highlight department faculty, staff and student accomplishments, awards, research, recognition, and innovation.
- Web/Online presence: Edit, create, and update content on department web pages following university branding and web site guidelines using a content management system. Establish and implement a web strategy for customer engagement and access to department functions and services.
- Social media and public relations: Manage and monitor department-affiliated social media channels. Create campaign content for multi-channel digital efforts on the web and through social media. Identify metrics; measure and report campaign impacts, reach.
- Graphic design: Create and incorporate graphic design and layout elements for multi-media efforts on the web, social media, brochures, magazines, posters, related material and digital platforms.
- Photography and videography: Shoot and edit promotional video for websites, emails and social media. Photograph students, faculty, and staff for recruitment materials, websites, news releases, and social media.

- Bachelor's degree in a communication or public relations field.
- One year experience developing or managing strategic and/or promotional multi-media campaigns.
- Experience with or mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, social media scheduling software, Microsoft 365.
- Graphic design experience.
