Job Title: EHS Leader

OC Business Title: Environ & Safety Lead


PURPOSE OF THE JOB

In Rockford the EHS Leader leads the safety and environmental functions. The safety and wellbeing of our team is a critical value that this leader must deliver on. The Rockford EHS Leader is responsible for partnering with all team members to continuously develop a wholistic site risk profile and driving the elimination of SIF risk through both direct leadership and leadership through influence. This leader works to improve on current safety programs, teams and procedures as well as implement new policies as needed in order to achieve our goals and continuous improvement in environment, health, and safety. In Rockford the EHS Leader is a hands-on role, which requires significant time on the plant floor, engaging and coaching employees, contractors, and other members of leadership. This leader will must be the subject matter expert on EHS and is accountable for developing capability to ensure a plant wide safety culture.

Reports to: Plant Leader

Span of Control: Primary responsibility is Plant wide; will also be leveraged to provide support across the division.

Direct Reports: EHS Coordinator


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities



  • Complete all required safety training
  • Educate team members on safe operations of new processes or modifications
  • Adhere to all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Effectively communicate Owens Corning's stand on safety throughout the plant to ensure all employees believe in and behave in a manner that supports our stand that all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone's responsibility, and that working safely is a condition of employment at Owens Corning



Environmental Health and Safety Leadership



  • Lead environmental initiatives and process to drive towards zero NOVs
  • Enroll and engage the entire workforce to build a powerful safety culture
  • Supports and engages with all shifts and employees days/nights in our 24/7 facility
  • Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards an injury free culture
  • Incorporate the Safer Together mentality and methodology with all people-related initiatives
  • Subject matter expert for hazard recognition and control programs; including JHA creation and scoring
  • Lead and engage safety team members to drive improvements through program compliance initiatives
  • Maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, influence employee and leadership behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process
  • Develop risk profiles for areas and tasks throughout the plant to understand and eliminate high risk exposures
  • Advise and guide the sites leadership team on policies, programs, and initiatives, to ensure as a plant we are continuously progressing our safety culture and compliance
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of all critical EH&S processes, programs, and procedures including those related to Process Safety Management (PSM)



JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in safety related discipline required
  • 3-5 years of experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success coaching and leading teams in a high employee empowerment culture, while training and developing technical skills in others
  • Ability to adapt and contribute to plant success in multiple areas (Operations, Talent Development, Project Leadership, TPM)


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) qualification preferred
  • Managing and delivering results through projects and initiatives
  • Experience utilizing computer programs and Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to travel as required (5%-10%)
