Overview

Hyland is building the future of intelligent enterprise software. The Experience Designer 3 will use strengths in usability, interaction design, and visual design to create simple, intuitive, and joyful experiences for end users of Hyland products. This role will also have increased responsibilities as a project lead, including serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and mentoring teammates.

This role is remote-friendly and will require availability in evenings to meet with colleagues in the U.S. and Europe in the evenings.

What you will be doing

    Lead design projects through complete product lifecycles from early research, conception, and requirements gathering through development, release, and refinement
  • Partner with research and product management partners to translate user insights and customer needs into design concepts, journeys, wireframes, mockups and prototypes using industry standard tools
  • Serve as a primary UX contact for multi-disciplinary stakeholders including product managers, product owners, development engineers and senior management, and collaborate with them to drive product vision and strategy
  • Use storytelling methods to communicate complex concepts and design work to varied audiences, clearly articulating reasoning, principles, and user insights which drive design decisions
  • Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to other design team members
  • Collaborate with user researchers to plan, develop and execute research to define, optimize and evolve our products; proactively identify research opportunities to address knowledge gaps at the product level
  • Leverage the shared enterprise design system and contribute feedback as well as proposals for patterns, guidelines and components in support of your product and user requirements
  • Provide annotated design specifications and documentation that detail interaction behaviors and acceptance criteria for developers
  • Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland's Information Systems Security Policy


What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years in a UX design or related role, preferably designing for enterprise software
  • Professional portfolio that demonstrates both pragmatic and creative thinking including the ability to work within constraints, shifting schedules and priorities
  • Experience mentoring junior designers
  • Proficiency with Figma
  • Proven experience creating high-quality and effective design artifacts including concepts, journeys, storyboards, user flows, wireframes and prototypes
  • Experience with responsive, mobile and product design
  • Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with developers and product owners in defining and designing digital products and experiences
  • Experience working across teams to integrate feedback and input from diverse stakeholders (product managers, engineers, customers, and other stakeholders)
  • Experience leading one or more designers in projects that span the complete product design and development lifecycle
  • Experience leading design activities within an Agile product delivery methodology
  • Design strategy and thought leadership experience
  • Strong oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, applied successfully within team as well as with all levels of employees in other areas and with customers
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership, sound judgement, and business acumen skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently on one or more projects, often with ambiguity, constraints of time and scope, and technical complexity
  • Ability to support work verbally and visually with design rationale, data and/or user research
  • Ability to introduce new design approaches and methods that drive positive outcomes (efficiency, speed to market, innovation, etc.)
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to developing team members
  • Up to 10% travel time required
