Knife River has an excellent opportunity for an asphalt plant laborer. An asphalt plant laborer will provide maintenance and repair of asphalt plant, and conveyor systems. Will also perform a wide range of general laboring duties at the asphalt plant.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Previous experience working at a plant or in a construction-related field is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportion is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as directed, and able to work extended hours if needed.
  • Must be able to work long hours in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.


Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Perform clean-up duties, oiling, lubrication, and miscellaneous repairs.
  • Responsible for seeing that all safety equipment is in place at all times.
  • Visually and audibly monitor plant components while in operation and notify plant supervisor of any inconsistencies.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Timely and regular attendance is essential.
  • Perform other duties as instructed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
  • Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting, and some welding ability.
  • Need positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
  • Equipment operation skills helpful.


Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.
  • Hand eye coordination.
  • Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
  • Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
  • Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting.
  • Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time.
