SUMMARY:

The Foundry Core Room Setup- 2nd Shift (2:10 PM-12:40 AM) position is responsible for the setup of the Core machines to ensure that correct manufacturing processes are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup of the Redford core machine.
  • Adjust machines as conditions warrant.
  • Assist belt operators with machine malfunctions, break downs, and assure that assigned machines are setup for the next shift.
  • Requires the use of judgment to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect the quality of the cores being produced.
  • Routine operational maintenance on the machine.
  • Report mechanical malfunctions and/or quality issues to maintenance and/or the supervisor.
  • Maintain area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Interface with Pattern Shop on modifications to core boxes.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous core making experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
  • Basic mechanical abilities.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear as well as use hands extensively for pushing/pulling, reaching forward and overhead. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 35 pounds. This position can be both mentally and physically demanding. Must frequently lift and carry heavy loads. While performing the duties the employee is required to sit, knee, twist, bend, stop, stand or walk around machinery constantly. This position can be both mentally and physically demanding. Extensive use of hands and arms and excellent vision is required.

*WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work in manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to excessive heat, dust, dirt, fumes, and noise.
  • The following safety equipment is needed to perform this position: respirator, steel toed shoes/boots, ear plugs, safety glasses (tinted), bump cap w/face shield, spats(leggings)/apron, and pouring gloves.
