Overview

NV5 is actively recruiting an experienced GIS Analyst with strong planning, critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills. This hybrid role, based out of Fort Belvoir, VA, offers the opportunity to work hands-on with geospatial data and space management systems to support the U.S. Army Reserve. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about leveraging GIS technologies to solve complex problems. You will play a vital role in optimizing how military facility users and planners collect, maintain, visualize, and act on space and manpower data-specifically using the Enterprise Pro-Active Real Property Interactive Space Management System (ePRISMS).

In order to be considered, candidates must have prior hands-on experience with ArcPro.

Work Environment:

    Fort Belvoir, VA - Hybrid - 3 days in office per week

  • Travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and maintenance of space and manpower data through the ePRISMS Dashboard
  • Import and manipulate MicroStation CAD data using ePRISMS tools
  • Conduct interviews with facility POCs to collect and verify space data (e.g., UICs, personnel types)
  • Develop standalone map products and custom GIS applications/tools, including Geospatial Experience Builder apps and widgets
  • Research user needs and propose functional enhancements to ePRISMS
  • Deliver user training and develop GIS workflows and documentation
  • Perform QA/QC to ensure GIS datasets meet SDSFIE and government data standards
  • Conduct field surveys using GPS and laser surveying equipment; digitize and integrate spatial data
  • Analyze and manipulate data in a variety of formats to meet US Army Reserve requirements
  • Collaborate with the team to identify application and database solutions
  • Inspect real property assets to verify geographic and land use data
  • Prepare technical documentation, models, diagrams, and GIS metadata
  • Understand client GIS needs and work across complex, varied databases


Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
  • Three years of experience using GIS (experience with ArcGIS Enterprise applications a plus)
  • Experience with GPS and survey equipment
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information and the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Solid technical background in GIS, CAD, and databases
  • Demonstrated experience in QA/QC of spatial data
  • Knowledge of Army systems of record: HQIIS, GFEBS, ISR, RPLANS, and ASIP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field
  • One year or more of GIS experience with Army IGI&S, Army Installation Atlas and ePRISM data
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Experience using GPS equipment
  • Experience with Python, SQL and/or Postgres
  • Familiarity with Army space management policies

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Willingness to spend extended periods on foot while conducting site surveys
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and team collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of championing the value of GIS/ePRISMS technologies
