Purpose of the Job

The Director of Talent is responsible for developing and executing talent strategies that align with the organization's business objectives. This role focuses on workforce planning, talent pipeline development and initiatives that enhance career development and employer branding. The Director of Talent will oversee key talent programs, external hiring partnerships, and leadership development efforts to ensure a strong and sustainable workforce. This role plays a key part in shaping the organization's talent strategy, ensuring a strong workforce and leadership pipeline for long-term success.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Leads the review and updates of job descriptions to ensure accuracy and alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Develops and executes workforce planning strategies to ensure the right talent is in place to meet organizational goals.
  • Builds and maintains long-term talent pipelines to support future hiring needs and business growth.
  • Oversees succession planning efforts, identifying key roles and high-potential employees to ensure leadership continuity.
  • Leads career development initiatives to support employee growth and internal mobility.
  • Manages and monitors the candidate assessment program, ensuring effective implementation and tracking of results.
  • Establishes and maintains external hiring partnerships with organizations to expand talent access.
  • Provides oversight of the Targeted Selection interview process, to include training and interview guide reviews to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Drives initiatives to enhance employer branding efforts, positioning the organization as an employer of choice to attract top talent.
  • Tracks and analyzes key talent metrics to drive data-informed decisions on hiring, retention, and workforce planning.
  • Develops and implements programs to encourage and facilitate internal career movement, ensuring employees have clear paths for advancement.
  • Evaluates and implements tools and systems to enhance talent acquisition, succession planning, and career development processes.
  • Leads and manages the Talent Acquisition team, ensuring roles are filled quickly with high-quality candidates while maintaining a strong candidate experience and efficient hiring processes.
  • Monitors industry trends, salary benchmarks, and hiring best practices to ensure the organization remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Builds and maintains a pipeline of passive candidates through proactive sourcing, networking, and relationship management.
  • Evaluates and implements new HR technology tools, including applicant tracking systems, AI-driven hiring tools, and talent management platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have strong leadership skills with a track record of driving strategic talent initiatives.
  • Must have the ability to influence and engage senior leaders to align talent strategies with business priorities.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Must have strong management skills; both principles and people
  • Must have the ability to direct staff to accomplish day-to-day tasks
  • Must have excellent computer skills, with intermediate skills in MS Excel and Word
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
  • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment required
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members and employees

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in talent management, workforce planning, or related HR functions required
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience required
  • Experience in career development and employer branding strategies required; experience in succession planning preferred
  • Must have proven experience in managing a Talent Acquisition team and ensuring a streamlined, high quality hiring process.
  • HR certification required (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience with Workday HRIS software preferred
