The Business Partner is the representative of the Procurement Function within an assigned Division and main point of contact to the cross functional business team. You are pivotal for creating strong connections between Procurement and the assigned business unit. As part of the business partnering team, you will support the Head of Procurement (HOP) for the category in driving strategic value for the business. You must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, analytical, clear presenter, and influence others effectively. You must work independently to understand markets, collaborate with category owners, navigate ambiguity, support ensure supply, improve processes, and build strong stakeholder relationships. In this role, you'll spot opportunities for brand and procurement growth, making sure that business needs match up with procurement projects. You'll share your insights with both procurement and business teams in a way that makes sense to them. You'll also work closely with different project teams, keeping them in the loop about business opportunities, sourcing challenges, supply risks, and ways to tackle those issues. Job Duties/Deliverables:
- Understand business requirements and challenges, including priorities, must-win battles and key value drivers-- Lead sourcing strategies at business level.
- Communicate this understanding to the category management teams at the appropriate level and using procurement language so the sourcing strategies and priorities are defined accordingly
- Assist in setting the strategic vision for BP procurement team
- Serve as the face of Procurement, represent all spend categories (direct and indirect)
- Promote strong utilization of procurement tools and new digital practices/tools/ways of thinking to maximize efficiency of the procurement function
- Understand how procurement activities impact the key metrics of the business or function in support of the Operational Master Plan (OMP)
- Liaise (Influence) with matrixed, cross-functional teams.
- Influence the teams at the appropriate level so the procurement sourcing strategies and priorities are built to meet Business objectives and vice versa
- Work with cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious strategies and targets to help grow the business
- Effectively balance competing constraints between business priorities and procurement objectives, using creativity to achieve both as much as practical
- Ensure procurement value contribution to the business, using key performance indicators to track and report progress.
- Participate in key meetings, ensure right stakeholder engagement, and escalate through senior contacts where needed
- Translate spend strategy into business strategy at the Brand level - including risks and opportunities based on market dynamics.
- Analyze monthly purchase price variance (PPV) for the Business so that Business margin forecasts reflect the latest market conditions and savings pipeline
- Understand and drive with finance all procurement inputs to the P&L for the business related to direct and indirect spend
- Own and measure cost improvement targets and projects; report to business stakeholders as appropriate
- Monitor business goals delivered by the category teams and help periodically reassess the targets
- Identify necessary activities and resources needed to achieve implementation of chosen sourcing strategies and ensure strategies are implemented.
- Ensure proper alignment and communications between business and category management teams. Work with category management teams to ensure the category strategy summaries align with the business strategies.
- Continuously enhance the procurement function by prioritizing performance, elevating expectations, and refining organizational and business processes to achieve results.
- Stay informed on consumer, industry, and market trends to drive value and innovation with procurement and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Critical Experiences/Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in applicable fields required.
- 5+ years of knowledge and experience with procurement and sourcing processes, legal contract negotiations, and contract management systems.
- Minimum 3 years sourcing, purchasing and/or material management, technical/manufacturing experience and/or or equivalent experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to CoPilot, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, including but not limited to PowerBI.
- SAP, Ariba, and I-Nexus experience preferred.
