JOB SUMMARY:
Review all documents related to the embed layout process. Have a working understanding of the content to be laid out and installed under McKenney's scope. Obtain the drawings, sleeve drawings and Trimble files needed for layout. Plan and execute all layout and install related to embedding and sleeve install required by the project drawings. Maintain and adhere to all project requirements directed by the Field Operations Manager & Job foreman/s regarding safety, schedule, and budget. Coordinate and verify ordering of Sleeves, embeds and all tools required to do the layout and embedding. Build positive relationship with all customers, business associates, Job Superintendents, and foreman.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Setup and Calibration: Setting up and calibrating robotic total stations to ensure accurate layout.
- Collect the 'control/layout' information to start a new job. Collaborate with the GC and Virtual Construction team.
- Layout Execution: Using the total station to mark precise locations for construction elements such as embeds, sleeves, drains, and hangers.
- Layout may include laying out points on formwork, finished slabs, or for underground.
- Layout a minimum of 45 points per hour. Regularly report results to Point Layout Team Leader.
- Data Management: Recording and managing layout data, ensuring it is accurately transferred to and from layout devices.
- Know and follow McKenney's cyber security best practices.
- Quality Control: Perform quality control checks to verify the accuracy of layout points and measurements.
- Equipment Care: Keep up and take care of all equipment as if it was your own.
- Troubleshooting the total station and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Keep tablet, batteries, iPad, & iPhone charged and with them every day that they are on site even on days they are not schedule to layout.
- Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, field engineers, and foremen to ensure timely layout.
- Communicate daily goals with each craft foreman.
- Report out daily progress to Point Layout Team Lead.
- Coordinate with the foreman on the tools necessary to complete the task.
- Coordinate with other trades on project
- Safety Compliance: Know and follow the company's 7 Safety Absolutes. Demonstrate a total commitment to safety.
- Participate in Flex & Stretch with the crew when possible or conduct it on own.
- Perform daily Pre-task plans and submit through CrewConnect.
- Look for and address any safety issues in each work
- Complete Safety Observations as required
- Planning: Complete 3-week look ahead schedule with Point Layout Team Leader.
- Be a Lifelong Learner: Complete all continuing education as required by collective bargaining agreement and McKenney's.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 3 years' experience in Construction industry
- OSHA 30 certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows computer environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using a Trimble RTS system

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is physically demanding. It requires performing layout on active construction projects and includes carrying equipment to the job site. Job site working conditions often involve exposure to varying weather, high noise levels, and dust. Safety hazards include falls, heavy machinery, and electrical risks, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like hard hats and gloves. Workers may face long hours, manual labor, and repetitive tasks. Effective teamwork and compliance with safety regulations, such as OSHA standards, are crucial. Emergency preparedness and site-specific safety plans help manage risks and ensure a safe working environment.
