Job Summary

Performs all aspects of pipeline operations. Which includes but not limited to, troubleshooting measurement problems, resolving pressure related delivery problems, maintaining control valves, monitoring third-party excavations near pipeline, working in SAP, maintaining regulatory documentation, assisting Engineering and complete involvement in Pipeline Integrity facility assessments.

Essential Functions



  • Under intermittent or no supervision, coordinates and trouble shoots as required field operations activities concerning measurement, odorization, pressure control, construction, fabrication, cathodic protection, line locating and leak survey. This requires technical knowledge or ability to quickly learn system controls, equipment, and overall pipeline operations.
  • Work with various types and sizes of valves as in operation of, maintaining, servicing, repair and replacement.
  • Facilitate, inspect and collection of data concerning all Pipeline Integrity tests as well as Direct and Indirect assessments
  • Conduct all Pipeline Integrity Digs in accordance with set procedures. Collect all data and transport pipe samples to Lab for testing
  • Provide technical expertise, problem solving and system knowledge in areas such as ROW, corrosion and Pipeline Integrity
  • Assist Pipeline Integrity Engineer in implementation of any activity to improve the integrity of the pipeline facilities
  • Evaluate, document and direct all pipe defect and remediation activities
  • Perform field evaluations of High Consequences Areas, inspection of the pipeline and identify any changes in structures or land use in the pipeline corridors.
  • Patrols and maintains pipelines and their ROWs as required by regulations.
  • Work closely with Land and ROW department to address encroachments immediately when identified
  • Installs, maintains and keeps records of location (GPS) of pipeline markers. Also of valves, stations and any above ground facilities.
  • Conducts occasional line locates for third parties and may remain on the job to monitor contractors to ensure no damage to pipeline facilities occur during the excavation. * Inspects company and third-party contractor activities. Inspects contractors while they perform R.O.W. or maintenance work, including the repair of leaks or offsets.
  • On-site during all excavation activities on or near our facilities. If pipeline is exposed an inspection is conducted and excavation report is completed with data acquired including measurements, photos and contractor/personnel involved.
  • Maintain and enforce pipeline facility security and safety policies.
  • Interprets valve sketches, operating maps and field notes. (Proficient in reading facet maps and operating in ArcMap/GIS).
  • Prepares sketches and field notes for minor offsets and relocations to pipeline. Assist Engineering as required.
  • At all times, protect pipeline from damages and conflicts to ensure continued integrity.
  • Operates industry related equipment and tools as required. (RD 4000, CGI)
  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, contractors and various department Operations Leaders, Supervisors and Managers.
  • Shares duties for emergencies and responds as necessary.
  • Complies with all governmental rules and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.


Education Description

High school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics and grammar. Advanced studies or technical degree preferred.

Experience



  • Requires zero-two (0-2) years of related experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Requires a valid state issued driver's license.
