Position: Director of Fundraising

Location:
Charlotte, NC (On-site)

Classification: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Exempt

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM


Job Summary

The Director of Fundraising is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating annual giving and donor engagement strategies to support the organization's mission and strategic goals. This role focuses on building relationships with current and prospective donors, increasing participation in fundraising campaigns, and developing a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization.

This position collaborates with leadership, communications, and finance teams to ensure fundraising efforts are aligned with organizational priorities and values. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with a strong background in fundraising, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire generosity.


Key Responsibilities
Annual Giving Strategy


  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual giving campaign, including setting goals, timelines, and communications strategies.



  • Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective donors and steward existing supporters.



  • Track donor engagement and campaign performance to inform future strategies and improve outcomes.



  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling messaging and materials that promote giving opportunities.



  • Oversee donor acknowledgment and recognition efforts, including personalized outreach to new, increased, and loyal contributors.




Donor Engagement & Stewardship


  • Create and implement donor engagement initiatives such as educational events, donor appreciation opportunities, and impact reports.



  • Represent the organization at events and meetings to build connections with supporters and community stakeholders.



  • Work closely with leadership to align fundraising messaging with organizational values and priorities.




Data & Reporting


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records within CRM systems.



  • Analyze giving trends and prepare regular reports to monitor progress and identify opportunities for growth.



  • Utilize data to segment donor audiences and tailor outreach strategies accordingly.




Administration & Collaboration


  • Participate in regular staff meetings, strategic planning sessions, and development-related committees.



  • Support grant research and assist with applications as appropriate.



  • Manage budgets related to annual giving initiatives and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.




Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree required.



  • 3-5 years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit advancement.



  • Proven success in managing annual giving or similar fundraising campaigns.



  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain donor relationships.



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



  • Highly organized with strong project management capabilities and attention to detail.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, Realm) preferred.



  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.



  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and practicing discretion in all donor-related matters.



  • Familiarity with nonprofit or mission-driven environments is a plus.
