Description

Knife River has an excellent opportunity for a CDL driver to safely maintain & operate a water truck to transport and spray water on road surfaces at the designated location with the goal of keeping gravel/ clay road surfaces at optimum moisture content to decrease the various risks that come from dirt and dust in the air.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Must have a Class B CDL license with Tank Endorsement, and a acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience operating a Water Truck is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience within the road construction industry is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, physical performance evaluation.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Supress dirt and dust that is kicked up around the grading and excavation operations by spraying water throughout job sites.
  • Perform various laborer tasks. Assist construction crews while waiting to apply water.
  • Maneuver large tank truck safely throughout a job site.
  • Safely operate water truck and water pumps.
  • Accurately record gallons of water taken from each source staying in compliance with daily limits.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness.
  • Accurately record pre & post-trip inspections on daily vehicle inspection form.
  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Regular and timley attendance is essential to this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
