Job Summary:

CenterPoint Energy's Business Solutions group is seeking an experienced IT Manager to join the IT Human Resources (HR) team. The IT HR team is responsible for all aspects of solution design, development, configuration and support of SAP Payroll, SAP HR, and other HR solutions utilized by employees of the company.

The IT HR Manager role is perfect for a driven, team oriented product/project professional who will be responsible for end to end product/project and support management, driving deliverables and milestones, as well as closely partnering with multiple business units. The Manager will provide strategic management support to an experienced IT team and consultative guidance to Corporate (including HR and Payroll)/Business process leaders. This role will give an opportunity to manage a technical/functional team to solve problems that may arise in the couse of business, add value in delivering solutions, and apply innovative thoughts to improving IT and business processes. This role is located in our Houston, Texas office, where we offer a hybrid work environment.

Essential Functions:

Support and Product/Solution Delivery




  • Responsible for day to day management of a technical/functional team to design solutions and provide support of SAP HR application and other HR applications, including Success Factors.



  • Engage IT and business team members for process design improvements, data integrity, security, and compliance.



  • Serve as the IT Project Lead when any system implementations or upgrades occur. Effectively plan, organize, and direct the completion of projects while managing risks and issues to minimize scope, budget, resource, and schedule impacts.



  • Communicate product/project strategy, updates, escalation of risks/issues to multiple levels of management, including executive leadership teams across the organization.



  • Demonstrated ability to apply agile and project management principles to effectively manage, and hold team members accountable to execute on priorities.



  • Proactively analyze business opportunities and technical processes to streamline, automate, and improve current systems, reporting functionality, or ease of use.



  • Ensure successful operations of internal and external data feeds to various business partners.



  • Stay on top of current trends and technologies influencing the HR and Payroll functions.





Customer Focus




  • Proactively build strong, trusted working relationships with Corporate (HR, Payroll,other)/Business functional leaders, and other Business and Technology partners to drive alignment, project/product delivery, and operations support.



  • Consult with HR stakeholders to elicit and document business requirements, and work with various IT teams bring the best business solutions to the HR community.



  • Consult with Payroll stakeholders to elicit and document business requirements, and work with various IT teams bring the best business solutions to the Payroll community.



  • Partner and coordinate with various 3rd party vendors to resolve client issues.



  • Collaborate with architecture and application teams to evaluate solution options, obtain stakeholder alignment, and recommend prioritization of solutions; includes understanding business drivers and justification, requirements gathering, effort estimation, resource planning, and budget planning.





Financial, Resource, and Administrative




  • Prepares and manages budgets and monthly forecasts to ensure spending is according to plan and any variances can be explained.



  • Conduct performance appraisals and perform salary administration.



  • Contribute to and enforce technology policies and processes.



  • Ensure compliance with IT Sarbanes-Oxley controls and procedures.



  • Ability to mentor, motivate, coach, and facilitate diversity and provide feedback for team members.



  • Performs all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy.





Basic Qualifications:

Education:

A Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience is required

Experience:




  • A minimum of 7 years experience in a SAP HR configuration or support role for HR/Payroll business units. Practical experience in implementing, using, and supporting SAP HR/SAP Payroll module on the SAP ECC platform or SAP SuccessFactors.



  • In-depth HR knowledge and experience in supporting at least one area: Payroll, Talent Management, HR Master Data, Recruiting, or Compensation.



  • Exposure to applications developed using a varied mix of environments and/or programminglanguages.



  • Experience working on ERP projects or end-to-end implementation experience of a successful project including post go live support.



  • Strong knowledge and skills in business process analysis, design, and requirements gathering.



  • Proven ability to apply process methodology to develop effective solutions to business problems.



  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and facilitation skills.



  • Creative thinker and problem solver.



  • Self-starter who can interact effectively with business and technical team members, and in a team environment.



  • Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures, and take all required training courses.



  • Must demonstrate respect for all individuals and adhere to the Company's values and business practices.





Preferred:




  • Experience working in an IT HR environment.



  • Experience with ECC HR and SuccessFactors.



  • Experience with ECC Payroll



  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA



  • Experience with 3rd party vendors and benefit providers.



  • Utility experience is preferred but not required
