Sr. Electrical Designer
US Citizenship Required Job Summary: In this role, you will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project's electrical engineering aspects are met. Major Responsibilities: Level 1 * Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight. * Performs electrical engineering design, including the development of higher tier documentation, as well as schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc. * Leads multi-disciplinary design teams on projects of moderate complexity. * Develops material requisitions and specifications for non-standard cable assemblies and provided engineering support to cable manufacture for project requirements and quantities. * Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks.. * Provide guidance on engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria to expand the skillsets of peers * Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. * Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations and standards. Level 2 * When delegated, provides guidance to other electrical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects * Completes electrical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance * Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliabilit Education and Experience Requirements: Level 1 * Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Level 2 * Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Suite programs. * Knowledge of NASA and MIL standards * Experience in connectorized cable design and fabrication * Experience in selecting electrical and physical components for control panel design * Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and electrical equipment layouts. * Strong understanding of engineering discipline drawings and system calculations such as short circuit and load-flow. * Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations. * Strong knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards. Experience with ETAP and other industry wide electrical system design tools, such as CAD 2D, and electronic Cable Management System. * Must be able to effectively communicate, and work well with others and within a team. * Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines. * Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions and multiple tasks. * Excellent oral & written communications skills. |
