Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc. through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Perform integration and testing of engine aftertreatment systems. Define and execute verification, and testing activities to support engine aftertreatment development in vehicle and test cell environment. Collaborate with global vehicle, OBD calibration and engine performance teams to successfully integrate aftertreatment hardware. Recommend, develop, and execute on continuous process improvement to improve product quality, reliability, and durability of MX engine aftertreatment system. Stay aware of new and upcoming aftertreatment technologies and testing methods. Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions, and give recommendations on next steps.Position requires 10% domestic and international for vehicle testing and supplier/PACCAR division collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or the foreign degree equivalent and 3 years of automotive engineering experience, including at least 3 years of experience in each of the following: Using diesel engine exhaust aftertreatment technologies, including Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Delivery Systems in accordance with applicable standards and regulations (EPA17, EPA21, Euro4, and Euro5); Planning, coordinating, and conducting in-vehicle (heavy-duty truck) tests at varying operating and ambient conditions to collect and analyze data using calibration and data collection and analysis software (including ATI Vision, Cummins Calterm, DAVIE, and APTIV Qualifier)and data interfacing tools (including Kvaser, PEAK, and NEXIQ)to support verification of the functionality, emissions compliance, and vehicle integration with diesel engines, engine aftertreatment systems, and engine software and calibration, on multiple Model-Year platforms; Developing and designing efficient and reliable prototypes, hardware, test equipment, and system-level installations for diesel engines and aftertreatment systems by applying knowledge of Mechanical Design, Mechanics of Materials, Structural FEA (Finite Element Analysis), GD&T, and the mechanical interactions between different components and their environment (including engine, exhaust, aftertreatment, powertrain, and chassis-mounted heavy-duty vehicle systems); Utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (includingCreo Parametric, Creo Simulate, and Windchill); Utilizing analytical product design and development tools and workflows, including: DFSS (Design For Six Sigma), DMAIC, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), TRIZ (Inventive Problem Solving applied to product development), Pugh Analysis, and DVP&R (Design Validation Plan and Report); Working with diesel engine and aftertreatment system hardware, parts and installations, as well as the mechanical, electrical (CAN communication and J1939 protocol), and software-level interactions with other heavy-duty vehicle systems (including DEF delivery systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, transmission systems, cab structures, chassis-mounted components, fuel systems, engine and aftertreatment system sensors and actuators); and Working with hardware-level and software-level control strategies for vehicle systems during vehicle operation in standard and non-standard environmental conditions. Experience may be gained concurrently.

SALARY: $116,272 to $131,700/year.This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
