GENERAL SUMMARY: The Program Manager-Value-Based Integration has an important role in a high-profile group and is tasked with developing and delivering strategic and broad communications to all at Henry Ford Health, including those who implement this care model, the general employee population at Henry Ford Health and affiliated physicians and organizations involved in Henry Ford value-based care. Responsible for distilling complex concepts into digestible information to all audiences referenced above. Functions as a subject matter expert in many areas of value-based care/contracting and able to assist leaders in developing and executing a communications strategy and cadence that allows the value-based work at Henry Ford Health to progress at an aspirational pace. Functions as a consultant to all in the value-based arena (physician leaders, contracting, finance, operations, Mosaic ACO) in addition to aligned independent physicians and leaders of aligned Physician Organizations to develop and implement ongoing communications that achieve great understanding of this healthcare current and future state. Works effectively with leaders and colleagues at all levels of the organization. Creates and applies new continuous improvement methodologies that improve communication at all levels of the organization and beyond. Functions as a project manager to lead and/or support additional work in the value-based contracting realm and how it relates to Henry Ford Health. Performs and/or manages project work of a generally complex nature aimed at improving operating systems and functions within Henry Ford Health, with increasing responsibility for project planning. Budgets and allocates resources for projects within scope of responsibility. Prepares reports and recommendations for management and coordinates implementation whenever possible. Acts as a consultant on projects outside of specific assignments. Supervises tasks of support staff relative to assigned projects. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with leaders within the Mosaic CIN, HFPN, and Mosaic ACO (operations, contracting, finance, care delivery, etc.), Henry Ford leaders and Henry Ford system communications to create and disseminate information regarding value-based contacting/care.
- Develops and oversees system-wide strategic communications with the purpose to inform and educate on nuances and reasons behind the shift to value-based care/contracting and the status of the work of the Mosaic CIN, HFPN, and Mosaic ACO and their journey in value-based care contracting, achievement of metrics and the success of these contracts.
- Leverages resources within Henry Ford system communications to optimize dissemination of information and education.
- Retains a high level and narrow understanding of value-based care/contracting to optimize communications and forward-thinking strategies.
- Serves as subject matter communications expert within all workstreams of the Mosaic CIN, HFPN and Mosaic ACO to create important and necessary communications that do not violate any proprietary information.
- Works closely with the Mosaic CIN, HFPN and Mosaic ACO to create communications strategies and deliverables for all work that does not fall within the already addressed scope, which can include website creation and maintenance and any supportive marketing materials.
- Provides content for Mosaic CIN, HFPN and Mosaic ACO leaders to include in outreach/education of value-based care/contracting in efforts to enlist engagement in physicians (and prospective physician members), operations, contracting, finance, care delivery, etc.
- Works with key clinical and operational leaders to continuously identify communication strategic needs and opportunities.
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with operational, physician and communications leaders within the Mosaic CIN, HFPN, Mosaic ACO and Henry Ford Health to ensure ongoing timely and appropriate messaging.
- Actively pursues opportunities to become multi-skilled to serve a more diverse role in the organization by developing skills in effective communication and more in-depth knowledge of value-based care/contracting.
- Works independently to manage complex projects involving coordination of multiple participants and teams aimed at improving operating systems and functions within Henry Ford Health. Maintains a high level of responsibility for completion of projects.
- Conducts reviews of assigned areas on a project basis; acts as a project lead for individual or multi-analyst projects. Prepares project plans including scheduling, costs, personnel matters, and other operational concerns.
- Develops and refines project scope, objectives and workplan.
- Recommends and provides input for budget preparation.
- Guides day-to-day activities of the project team and facilitates and/or leads meetings and teams.
- Provides periodic project updates to senior leaders by preparing project management reports, and coordinating written and verbal presentations of project findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Conceptualizes ideas, develops work plan, and plan execution into project format. Develops and determines priorities and monitors status of projects on an ongoing basis. Exercises independent judgment and makes difficult decisions.
- Documents current systems and operations. Analyzes systems, procedures, and operations and identifies opportunities for improvement. Identifies and tests alternative methods and procedures and identifies associated costs and benefits. Defines requirements to modify existing procedures or develops new system. Assists in the implementation of revised or new methods.
- Guides support staff in performing operations analysis and decision support activities. Establishes work schedules and priorities to ensure that workflow is controlled.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field, preferably in Communications/PR/journalism or Healthcare Administration. Master's degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in healthcare required, with at least three (3) years of experience in clinical, value-based or healthcare administration communications.
- Five (5) years of experience as a communications specialist and strategist.
- Project management experience and outstanding analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Lean training highly preferred.
- Ability to apply innovative solutions to problems and familiarity with TQM process is also required.
- Knowledge of value-based contracting and familiarity with risk/reward models (e.g., MSSP, Direct-to-Employer, etc.)
- Knowledge of value-based care principles, population health management initiatives and interconnectivity of value-based contracts and how they affect patient care.
- Excellent communicator - able to express complex ideas clearly and effectively to a varied audience; these include complex technical/analytical concepts to system leadership and staff.
- Able to inspire engagement with value-based initiatives to all related team members, departments, and stakeholders, including physician and senior-level leadership.
- Foundational knowledge of value-based care and Quintuple Aim.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy
- Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
