UIC is seeking an IT Manager, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services to join our College of Pharmacy team. This role will provide leadership and direct oversight of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Business System Analysts. The IT Manager, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, is responsible for managing and overseeing the development, design, testing, and implementation of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services applications and technologies. The IT Manager, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services is responsible for coordinating pharmacy clinicians and operational leadership to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the design of new tools, components, and functionalities within pharmacy applications. Implement software modifications and document changes to designs, tools, components, functionalities, and processes. Identify, document, and quantify the impact of processes and workflow changes upstream and downstream of the point of change.
  • Lead technical integration efforts between Ambulatory Pharmacy Prescription Dispensing software and Third-Party Software Vendors or other College/Health System software services. Coordinate testing and proof of concept implementations of interfaces across systems. Ensuring integration and integrity of applications data between systems and environments. Participate as an expert on Pharmacy communication standards and specifications (HL7, EDI, NCPDP, etc.)
  • Participate as a technical expert in Epic Certified Analyst related tasks for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Prescription Dispensing software.
  • Lead Technical resource in aligning Ambulatory Pharmacy systems design and specifications with regulatory and accreditation requirements. (URAC, 340B, DIR, etc.)
  • Lead technical resources in supporting department developed hardware and software.
  • Engage with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Participate in analysis of vendor solutions and enforce vendor service level agreements (SLA). Contact vendor to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with Ambulatory Pharmacy Services stakeholders and the Business Intelligence team to ensure reporting needs are being met.
  • Serve as key contributors in the development of new policies, procedures, or work practices. Coordinate the input of others.
  • Provide application support on a rotating 24/7 basis.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study.
  2. Minimum of 6 years of professional IT experience which includes 2 years' experience at a supervisory or lead worker capacity
  3. Demonstrated experience within IT Development which includes experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance.
  4. Demonstrated experience with system build, configuration, integration of software applications such as EPIC.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience within IT Development and hardware maintenance. Have experience with programming languages for software maintenance. Have server experience for hardware maintenance.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, multiple data access and storage systems and Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Display working knowledge of build tools in healthcare software applications and software development.
  • Knowledgeable of system management principles, application development and application testing strategies.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance work demands.
  • Skills in healthcare and/or pharmaceutical software applications which may include electronic medical records applications.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing the design, development, and implementation of pharmacy solutions.
  • Ability to effectively measure success of projects by evaluating post implementation metrics against predetermined KPIs.
