This position is assigned to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

This position is eligible for a limited telecommuting schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership and direction of assigned personnel for the operation, maintenance, calibration, repair and upgrade of Metric Optics Systems
  • Provide customer service and support to internal/external customers for data products, maintenance activities, system upgrades and operational support
  • Oversee and maintain Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Qualification training/documentation of assigned personnel. Ensure a trained and qualified staff is available to perform all required operations
  • Responsible for staff and system scheduling to include: work assignments, employee vacations, overtime assignments, shift rotations, system relocations, corrosion control, property control, safety actions, facility actions, etc.
  • Assist employees with problem resolutions; author and conduct performance evaluations; maintain system and personnel performance documentation; conduct hiring interviews and disciplinary actions; relay interpretation of and enforce company policies
  • Monitor Optical system performance during real-time launch activities and provide leadership in identifying deviations from expected or required performance
  • Assist engineering personnel to identify, develop, design and implement modifications and upgrades to Optical systems
  • Assist Launch Performance Analysis personnel in investigation and resolution of operational anomalies
  • Actively contribute in the development of short and long range strategic objectives
  • Actively interface with customers to develop Optics requirements
  • Lead the continuous process improvement efforts for Optical systems
  • Ensure department productivity and quality goals are met
  • Ensure adequate operational spares, supplies, materials and consumables are available to perform and achieve O&M tasks, objectives and requirements
  • Review, generate and/or coordinate technical documentation for operational requirements, minor modifications, and sustainment/modernization efforts
  • Participate in technical contract proposals and technical interchange meetings
  • Provide cost estimates on launch operations and/or proposals
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of instrumentation status changes and reporting of Optical Launch anomalies
  • Conduct meetings, briefings and/or presentations to coordinate department activities or disseminate information
  • Attend pre and post mission meetings, briefings and working groups associated with the Optics Super-System
  • Coordinate the operational use and maintenance of assigned facilities
  • Vigorously pursue initiatives to improve the quality, efficiencies, and timeliness of Section and contract enterprise solutions, products or services
  • Innovate process improvement oriented towards ensuring contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods derived from internal and external integrated process team actions
  • Develop and integrate enterprise concepts and recommendations to capitalize on Cross Range best practices, efficiencies and standardization
  • Prepare and provide progress, status reports, and briefings as required or requested, to inform management of anticipated performance problems, issues, improvement initiatives, as well as recognizing personnel through the RGNext Recognition Program
  • Ensure contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods derived from internal and external integrated process team actions
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of experience in a technical field, Optics preferred
  • Three or more years of leadership experience with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines
  • Supervisory skills that demonstrate or indicate a high potential for successful direction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications
  • Eastern Range operations and maintenance experience, preferred
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining unit environment, preferred
  • Experience with Eastern Range project integration, preferred
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures, preferred

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to work at remote locations and inside mobile tracking instruments
  • Ability to travel locally within the Continental United States
  • Position may require occasional travel Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS)
  • The flexibility to work frequent non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required
  • Valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one
