Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The Senior Project Planner leads complex planning projects for the organization. This role requires deep expertise in planning, regulatory
compliance, and project management. The Senior Project Planner also plays a critical role in shaping long-term planning strategies and serves as a
subject matter expert in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all phases of large-scale planning projects.
* Serve as a planning expert and representative at public hearings and advisory boards.
* Provide strategic direction on long-range planning and policy development.
* Manage large teams of planners, consultants, and external stakeholders.
* Ensure all projects comply with zoning, environmental, and land use regulations.
* Develop and review technical reports, project proposals, and policy recommendations.
* Provide technical oversight for projects and staff.
* Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope.
* Achieve or exceed budgets individual utilization targets.
* Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
* Ensure projects comply with ISO standards.
* Conduct and submit timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff.
* Mentor and develop junior staff and mid-level planners.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field.
* Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, transportation planning, urban planning or related discipline
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Proficiency in GIS software.
* Excellent public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
* Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
* Good communication and technical writing skills.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:
* Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:
* AICP
