The Opportunity: We are seeking a Regional Security Specialist to add to our Security department. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of credit union facilities, employees, and members by maintaining compliance with security policies and procedures. This will involve traveling to DFCU locations to conduct physical security surveys, coordinating incident response efforts, and administering physical security systems, such as access control software and surveillance video management systems. This role may also include executive protection responsibilities.

What You'll Do:



  • Conduct Physical Security Surveys and Risk Assessments. Provide recommendations and ensure follow-through on implementation, testing, training, and maintenance.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of physical protection systems, recommend and implement upgrades or replacements as necessary.
  • Research, identify, and oversee installation of new and upgraded security equipment. Ensure equipment is operational and functioning properly.
  • Respond to critical incidents such as bank robberies and coordinate investigative efforts with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for branches regarding physical security matters.
  • Stay informed on trends in crime, security technology, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and enhance security measures.
  • Investigate security related incidents. Document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions in case management system.
  • Track internal and external threats, including criminal activity, protests, and potential workplace violence indicators. Augment the Executive Protection function.
  • Ensure coordination and cooperation with Facilities Management department regarding new builds, remodels, branch openings, branch closings, and other matters as they arise.


What You'll Need:



  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in corporate security, law enforcement, or a related field, with a focus on physical security and incident management.
  • Previous experience with security systems (e.g., access control, surveillance systems) and conducting risk assessments.
  • Ability to travel regionally and respond to incidents outside of standard business hours.
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices by maintaining active memberships in external organizations.
  • State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL), and Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) firearms training, security intervention and de-escalation training.
