The Ending Pandemics Academy's mission is to equip global leaders with proven and innovative approaches to predict and prevent pandemics.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Ending Pandemics Academy, the Director of Programs and Operations will have strategic and operational responsibility for Ending Pandemics Academy staff, program, expansion, and execution of its mission. They will have deep knowledge of the field, will design and run Ending Pandemics Academy core programs, will oversee operations, and develop strategic plans.

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:

  • Ensure secure hosting of systems and platforms within the University infrastructure.
  • Design and execute focus groups with various academy stakeholders to inform the various offerings.
  • Identify, recruit, and oversee a talented team of Academy staff and consultants to execute implementation of the Academy offerings
  • Oversee the technology team of the Academy to ensure seamless operation of Academy technology platforms and ongoing improvements.
  • Develop the organizational culture, and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization through the implementation of varied team meetings, brainstorms, all-hands sessions and team learnings.
  • Develop organization budget, and monitor the financials, on a monthly basis, with support of the Global Health Institute Finance team and review variances with the Academy Director and Director of the Global Health Institute.

Program and Operations:

  • Co-develop the various Academy offerings including short sessions, workshops and in country engagements.
  • Lead specific sessions during workshops on campus and at satellite campuses as well as other strategic global locations.
  • Design the application process and implement and manage cohort applications including the review of applications to the Academy with the Director.
  • Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.

Planning & New Business:

  • Foster relationships with and develop partnerships with stakeholders, academia, industry, non-profits, foundations, and other relevant parties.
  • Co-host the Academy academic and social events with the Executive Director to socialize the offerings and showcase value proposition.
  • Attend college events, conferences, and other networking events as a representative of the program to recruit attendees of the Academy.

Fundraising:

  • Support the Executive Director to identify potential sources of funding and organize fundraising efforts.

Communications:

  • Refine all aspects of communications-from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a clear identity for the Academy in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Represent and present the Ending Pandemics Academy at conferences and events to strengthen the brand and communicate the Academy's mission.
  • Work with Executive Director and University Communications team to document the launch and ongoing events of the Academy including press releases, social media presence and videography.
  • Work with communications team to advertise and socialize the programs and offerings including the application process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 11 years of related work experience, including 7 years of managerial experience, preferably in large complex institutions or organizations, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree, ideally an MPH, with at least 10 years of program design and management experience.
  • Track record of effectively leading innovative efforts globally, regionally and/or nationally.
  • Experience in leading multiple teams, projects, programs, and/or functions.
  • Experience in implementation of novel public health programs globally.
  • Experience designing academic programs, trainings and fellowships.
  • Strong public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience designing academic programs.
  • Success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing Board Member relationships.
  • Experience in project and program management in a university setting.
  • Experience in designing innovations for disease surveillance domestically and globally.
  • Track record of scaling efforts across geographies.
  • Track record of partnerships with various sectors and partners including WHO, WOAH and FAO.
