CALS College Advancement is to enhance, promote and support the academic programs, research and extension efforts of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (
CALS). Within
CALS Advancement is the NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit, 501c3 organization formed as a means of supporting agricultural research, extension and teaching activities in
CALS. The
CALS Advancement team works in close partnership with the central University Advancement Office and its partner colleges.
CALS Academic Programs
CALS offers a diverse array of academic programs designed to prepare students for various careers in agriculture and life sciences.
CALS features 16 undergraduate majors and 19 minors across 12 departments, providing a comprehensive education in fields such as Agricultural Business Management, Biochemistry, Horticultural Science, Nutrition Science, and Poultry Science, just to name a few. Additionally, the college offers more than 20 graduate programs. For those seeking a more hands-on, technical education, the Agricultural Institute provides six two-year degree programs. For the 2024-2025 academic year,
CALS awarded over 950 scholarships totaling more than $2.2m. |
Essential Job Duties |
The Scholarship and Fellowship Manager is responsible for administering and managing a large portfolio of endowed and annual scholarships and fellowships supporting students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (
CALS). Reporting to the Executive Director, NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc. with a dotted line to the Associate Dean and Director,
CALS Academic Programs, you will serve as the college subject matter expert on scholarship fellowship and financial award information. In this this role you will provide support in the following areas; scholarship and fellowship administration, program administration and coordination, customer service and stewardship to ensure effective funding processes, strong donor relationships, and student success through day-to-day scholarship/fellowship administration.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the scholarship/fellowship administration for awards benefiting CALS.
- Follow the University's scholarship cycle and manage the awarding timelines & due dates.
- Serves as primary liaison and manager for scholarship processing software processes and platforms (PackAssist).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents/guardians, and university partners, providing timely and relevant information on scholarship opportunities, application procedures, and deadlines.
- Manage solicitation of annual scholarship donors to secure funds for making awards.
- Work collaboratively with CALS Academic Programs and CALS departments to facilitate and track awards, identify recipients, analyze trends and data, prepare reports, track budgets, and reconcile scholarship funds.
- Ensure compliance with legal gift agreements to ensure awards are spent appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and procedures and remain current regarding regulations, policies, and procedures affecting scholarships and financial aid.
- Review student applications and make recommendations for awards based on criteria and student award eligibility.
- Review legal draft gift agreements to ensure language aligns with the awarding process.
- Coordinate with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and utilize PackAssist to review, verify, and process student scholarship applications.
- Collect post-acceptance responses from scholarship recipients (over 800) as part of the annual scholarship donor notifications process, including reviewing, editing, and tracking post-acceptance information from students and assembling and distributing reports.
- Manage donor relations as they pertain to scholarships/fellowships.
- Provide data and reports on scholarship impact and outcomes to support fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate scholarship communications and logistics to CALS students, donor communications, meetings, events, and special projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
